How it works
Ordering and terms & conditions
How to order:
All our items are made to order. After you have placed an order, please allow approximately 3-12 weeks (depending on the style and current workload) for bridal orders, 7-10 days for sleepwear, for your order to be made. You will be notified by email when the order is dispatched. We are happy to accept international orders.
Please use the contact page to get in touch if you would like to visit my studio (in Devon) to try on a style. I do not keep stock of sizes, I usually keep samples in a UK size 10/12. I occasionally arrange to send samples to customers to try (with a full payment deposit paid and postage paid by the customer).
There are the following options for buying from Sister Organics, explained below;
- Standard style from the collection in a set dress size
- Customised size or style
- bespoke/ original dress/garments
Standard style and set dress size
Standard style and sizes are still individually made to order - as a small business I do not have the means to hold stock on styles and sizes.
Please allow 3-12 weeks (3-6 weeks for tops) for us to make your order, this may be longer during busy periods. if you require a more accurate delivery date, please get in touch before you order.
When I receive your order I will make the item in the standard size selected.
Please use a tape measure to compare your measurements to the size chart below (also shown on the listing). Dress sizes vary depending on the brand, please take the time to check your size.
If you are between sizes, it’s best to go bigger and have the dress altered if necessary.
Standard size chart:
Some tips for measuring:
We want your dress to be comfortable, so don't pull the tape measure too tight. Sometimes it's easier for someone else to get the tape measure in the right place, so ask a friend to help.
Bust: Place the tape measure under your arms, over your shoulder blades and across the fullest part of your bust. Remember to breathe out first.
Waist: Measure around your natural waist. You can find it by bending to the side.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your bottom at the top of the leg, as a guide, it’s about 20cm/8 inches below your natural waist. When working out which size to order, always measure your natural waist. All dresses are designed to fit the natural waist unless otherwise stated.
If the standard size item needs altering to fit perfectly, you can choose to have the alterations done by a local dressmaker/ alterations tailor or me.
I charge extra for alterations and strongly suggest they be done in person.
The cost of alterations depends on the style and the type of alteration. As a guide to the prices I charge, an approximate price for shortening a dress or a sleeve: £30-£60, depending on the style, taking a dress bodice in £40-£120 depending on the style of the dress.
Customised Size
If you don’t fit into the standard sizes on the size chart, I can cut the dress to your size/ measurements.
Customised sizes are typically +£25. Bust, Waist and Hip measurements must be provided, along with any other measurements required for a particular style - please get in touch or I will contact you for further info when I receive your order. Most items can be made longer or shorter, to suit your height. Additional lengths will be charged extra according to the amount added to the hem length.
Please note – Even when providing your measurements, peoples bodies vary and you should be willing to accept that an alteration may be required. Any alterations required will be charged separately.
Customised items are non-refundable. Unless I have taken your measurements, I am not responsible for incorrect fit due to incorrect measurements being provided.
Customised style (adaption of an existing style)
All styles are made to order and I regularly make changes to the standard dress styles for customers. For example, it may be possible to add short, three-quarter or long sleeves, change the shape of a neckline, add or reduce the length of a dress, top or sleeve. Please get in touch if you’d like to know if a customisation is possible and receive a quote. As a guide, a typical price for adding a sleeve to a dress is £25-£100, lengthening a dress is approx. £25-£200 (price depending on the fabrics and length).
Bespoke dresses
Each year I make a few bespoke dresses. The dress is designed and made to the specification of the customer and made to measure. The customer must be available to come for fittings. Please get in touch for further info.
Bespoke wedding dress prices start from around £1000. for a more traditional style gown, pricing depends on the style and fabrics etc.
All bespoke/ custom orders are non-refundable.
I do not make direct copies of other peoples designs and only work with organic/sustainable/natural fabrics/recycled fabrics.
Please get in touch if you are interested in a re-cycled/ up-cycled wedding dress or specific fabrics.
Samples
Occasionally I sell samples – which are usually original versions of the dress - it has probably been worn for a photoshoot/ show or tried on by customers. Possibly altered/ washed or dry-cleaned. It will still be in a good condition, clean and well-made.
Repairs
I am happy to repair any Sister Organics dresses/ items. Whether it is chargeable or not depends on the damage – please email for further info.
